Tantallon Castle
Near North Berwick, and opposite the Bass Rock. Ancestral home of the 'Red Douglases'. Survived two sieges but was ruined by Oliver Cromwell's army in 1651. It is a monumental castle with an enormous curtain wall (see extra), which you can walk along, though the height is pretty scary! It has only 3 sides as it is built on the edge of a cliff, so doesn't need a 4th. Making use of our new Historic Scotland membership.
