Architectural rivalry
This fountain in Piazza Navona is an example of baroque art. This is the Fountain of the Four Rivers by Bernini. It represents the rivers Nile, the Ganges, the Danube and the Rio de la Plata . It sits opposite the church of Sant Agnese in Agone by Borromini. Bernini thought his church very ugly and the figure on the left , Rio de La Plata facing the church is reclining in horror. They were great rivals all through their lives.
Borromini committed suicide and has a very insignificant grave while Bernini was buried with full honours.
