On the journey home
We left for home by mid-morning from our friends' home on the high moors of Northumberland. I was rather dreading the likely Bank Holiday traffic on the motorways, so the first hour of the journey crossing the Pennines via Alston was a delight. When we reached Hartside we stopped just to take in this view from the car park of the famous isolated roadside cafe where hordes of motorbikes were already gathered for a greasy spoon breakfast. This is the view looking westwards to the distant peaks of the Lake District.
We did get home by 6pm so the journey wasn't too bad, but I was exhausted and very pleased to see Bomble again, who looked very well.
