A Different Boathouse

The view for this photo is looking north on the Halifax River in Ormond Beach, FL (Daytona area).  I've always wondered how they came to have a boathouse like this considering the many piers and small hangers for boats of most other residents.  The extra photo is a one-way street where the houses on the right are on the river.  It is close to the place where the large boathouse is located, and begins behind the house in the extra photo I posted yesterday.  The street is so narrow and lined by large oak trees, one must be careful not to hit a tree while driving on the street.  There are signs in several yards that say, "Drive Like Your Children Live Here."  We will be in Florida for a week - now in Orlando.  All the houses on this little street are massive.
