Brazil nut pod

My Godmother's father was an adventurous journalist of Italian descent. In the early 20th century he travelled extensively often arriving home with treasures for his wife and small daughter. This Brazil nut pod was one such gift. It weighs around 2lbs and is 19" in circumference. It contains several brazil nuts packed tightly within, which you can see through the hole in the top. Amazing to think its around 100 years old !
