Milestone met

So, the children's feet have grown. Again. School shoes and trainers required. The Eldest has super narrow feet, so every time we have the trip to the shop where she gets a selection of maybe 2 pairs of shoes.

The Youngest on the other hand, has proper kiwi paddles on the end of her legs, so she's fine for selection...except she has expensive taste. She's got herself a pair of Skechers this time which have spangly lights on them when she walks. She thinks that's fabulous.

As a trade off for this, I got to narrow down her selection of school shoes, so there were this pair of leather Converse one stars in the half price sale. Only issue is that they've got laces. I know that when I was 6 I could do laces, but the Youngest couldn't.

As you can see...now she can! I refused to do them for her, but with a bit of teaching she manages it just fine. She doesn't pull the bows quite tightly enough, but she can fix it when they come undone.

The Eldest was taught by the marvellous Mrs Venter, who was her teacher for her first 2 years at school. She unexpectedly passed away on the first day of the school year in 2011, and it is lovely that we'll remember her for the skill that she gave the Eldest, as well as all the other lovely aspects of her. She was a treasure.

So there we have a blah blah blether all about shoe laces. Thrilling.
