Viceroy
We returned to the Fort River refuge for the the first time since mid-August, and were utterly shocked to find how dry it has become in just the three weeks--as an example, the tangle of roots in the extra image is usually mostly covered by a small stream. The wider pools in the stream nearby (where we had the Green Heron) were also completely dry. And the only birds we saw were three Eastern Phoebes--literally, in an hour one-mile walk :(
But it was comfortable with lots of sun, and butterflies were out. The Viceroy in the blip mimics the Monarch, which may confuse predators.
