Over the Horizon

Afternoon ramblings

After a full day of meetings, introductions and errands on Monday I stayed in Osborne Tuesday to write and do work on the computer. It is nice to wake up to the birds here and write with a view over the fern forests outside as mist drizzles down.

In the afternoon I took a break from being indoors to ramble and explore the peninsula more. It was food for the soul discovering this place and sojourning with this place. Land, sea and sky all seem to dance and merge together out here. I tried to make it to the inlet to cross at low tide, but arrived as the tide was surging to come back in.

Tussock grasses and wind sculpted trees cling to the narrow ribbon of land between the inlet. Boulders and washed up kelp smatter the entrance and beyond the channel a white ribbon of beach runs away to tall cliffs and jutting rocks. It is a magical place where the wind shrieks full of life and laughter. It helps me keep things in perspective and forget all this anxiety.

Like the misty hillsides the future is obscured for me. Looking out and beyond though the sea rolls and heaves full of purpose and promise. Symbolism and metaphors all around me here in Osborne land.
