Take-away

Precariously straddled across the chicken coop roof with a toe on a pair of step ladders, as you do,  I got just one chance at capturing this wasp happily munching it's way through the timber before it was spooked. They must be making a nest fairly close by and are using it for nesting material. If you look closely you can see it's mandibles on the wood and see too the bits of scraped up wood where it has been active.

I am not worried about them breaking through the roof but am far more concerned as to where they are taking the pulp as we had a huge nest in the loft last year. Maybe it's time for a quick inspection to see if they have returned!!
