Memories MM137

The signature on this painting is that of Ann Long.   ( for the colour painting see extra)
It brings back very happy memories of our holidays in Cornwall with my mum and dad.
Those happy days down on the beach.
Building sand castles and waiting for the tide to surround it as you stood on top.
Rock pooling, belly boarding, and then with the
two boys tucked up in bed, back at Grandma and Grandad's, our special treat. Dinner at the Count House Restaurant , Botallack.

Ann was not only a superb cook and Master Chef of Great Britain, but also a very talented amateur artist.
This painting was one she had on the wall, and just before the restaurant closed we bought it, and it brings back those memories every time we look at it.

In November 1980, HM The Queen, HRH The Duke of Edinburgh , and Prince Andrew, visited Geevor Tin Mine, and they went to the Count House for lunch.
Ann cooked their lunch along with two friends, who were just home cooks, and had never cooked in a restaurant before.
It was a very memorable day for them all  This is an article in The Cornishman 21st April this year, about the event.. See here  Ann is in two of the photos.

So memories all round.

You may see The Count House on Poldark, as it is on the cliffs just above the two Crown Mines, which are right on the edge of the rocks, by the sea.
