Memorable Building

Not much energy today so a short walk with the dog took me to a small hamlet with some interesting buildings.  Not so long ago this place was a farming community with a small church (but huge Rectory) thatched farm cottages and a village green; it also had a school with adjoining School House.  Today the farming community has dispersed, although there is still a lot of agriculture around, the school long since closed, the church struggling to pay its way with a small congregation and the old rectory is a nursing home for the elderly.  Other houses are now twee dwellings which only the higher incomes can support!

This adaptation of the School and School House is in excellent condition although the owners live most of the time abroad.  I expect the children who once attended the school have long since moved on with children and grandchildren of their own - if they ever return to see their old community it will be a memorable occasion.
