A Mountain Moment

At the Lacs Chéserys.
Today was truly driech. We woke up to wet with low cloud and the mountain tops nowhere to be seen.
Day one with a group is a get to know each other day, a chance for me to assess the clients abilities and start to plan our options as the trek progresses. We did some tourist stuff in Chamonix and then wandered along the valley in the rain. We arrived at the Flegere lift dripping, but I decided we'd still head up, though not as far as Lac Blanc and the ladders in the conditions.
As we wandered through the clouds there was little to indicate we were in the Alps surrounded by towering peaks - in fact it felt and looked a lot like a day in the English Lake District.
By early afternoon though the rain had eased- so I decided that we'd head as high as Lac Chéserys to see the group on rocky steeper paths and in the hope we might get a view.
I've often espoused my theory that there's a special moment in every day if only we're ready to look - today just as we turned for down the cloud lifted and stood a few feet from us was this fellow - by the time cameras had been gotten from waterproof bags he'd trotted away a bit, but if anything I like this shot more as it shows the only view of the day.
We made our way down to Argientierre glad of the shelter of the woods - the group all did ok - now we get to see what moments tomorrow will bring.
