Centre Cantilever Section Forth Bridge
A Spokes Ride to Aberdour on the occasion of the 52nd anniversary of the opening of the Forth Road Bridge. And my 19th anniversary of leading Spokes Rides.
The ride started off cool, but as we headed out of Edinburgh along National Cycle Route 1, the sun started to make its presence felt. The clouds were parting very nicely as we crossed the Forth, and there was hardly a breath of wind. An excellent chance to take photo of the Forth Bridge, which carries trains across the Forth. The Forth Bridge was opened on the 4th March 1890. So it is 126 1/2 years old.
The clouds continued to clear as we headed east along the Fife coast. At Abedour, most of the clouds had gone. The only ones to be seen were behind us, or over Edinburgh.
It was very difficult after lunch to get up so we could cycle back to Edinburgh. As we head back, the clouds reformed. We got back to Cramond Brig rather early, so we went to the pub. We sat outside.
A great day out.
