Galahs

I seem to be making a record of all the parrots that visit our back yard. Galahs are the clowns of the parrot world - hence the Australian expression "You silly Galah". They are much smaller than the sulfur crested cockatoo.

Galahs are extremely common, but very rarely come this close to the house. They are not particularly shy, but I was pleased to get this shot - I didn't think I'd be quick enough.

I love the colours of grey and pink, and if you are lucky enough to disturb a flock by the side of the road, it's like a pink cloud rising into the sky.
