the wedding

It was the wedding of Zoe's niece over near Tunbridge Wells which meant we had a two and a half hour drive via the M25.

Not the best idea to tackle the roads on the last Saturday of the holidays... Traffic chaos meant frantic texts from one family member to another, all in different cars, all heading to the same destination, all from different directions and all with estimated google maps etas that were saying "might just make it on time.... but might not"

I could hear the sound of "Mrs Robinson" playing away in the background as we sped along B roads that google maps had rerouted us on, through places we had never heard of and will probably never pass through again desperately trying to get there on time. Not that we were going to run off with the bride or anything like that. We just felt that need to be there on time and not let anyone down.

We finally got there three and a half hours after setting off, with minutes to spare, I changed into wedding attire in the car park... we had allowed for time to go to the hotel first and get changed and drop bags off etc but that had clearly turned out to be very wishful thinking . Uncle Tony arrived a few minutes after us clearly with similar plans to me as he proceeded to get undressed in the car park too.

But we had all got there just in time and we rushed into the wedding venue with seconds to spare...

...only to find that the bride was held up and she didn't arrive until at least 45 minutes later!

We all had a great day in the end though.
