Death and Life...

We pulled up this iris in summer when we paved and redesigned the yard. We put it to one side to be disposed of. But we forgot about it.

Today I noticed that, although uprooted for months, it continued to live and has produced these seeds.

The iris may die but, before it does, it offers life to a new generation.

I love the way nature fights for life against all odds.
