24-Hour a Day Efficiency and Work

I took this from my office window, showing the new shopping mall going up across from us.

When I arrived at work in the morning, the newly laid concrete (the dark gray, top left) had not been laid. It then looked the same as the section the yellow-hatted workers are working on in this photo. Four hours later I took this ... and at least 5 tennis courts were filled with concrete (most out of shot).

See the bright red arm dropping into the photo from above ... that is attached to a concrete mixing truck well out of shot, and there are always at least four concrete mixing trucks waiting in line to empty their loads. Once one is finished, it goes back to the suburb's cement factory, loads another few tonnes of concrete and returns.

There are at least a few hundred sites like this in Shanghai at any given time. We have 4 in our own lives: me from my office, Mau has two visible from his office and then we have our very own private display visible from our balcony at home.

All these run for 24 hours a day so it simply never stops!

Imagine sleeping with all of this going on around you.
