Ocean Lab, Newburgh

Finally made it to Aberdeen Uni Ocean Lab facility at Newburgh. Enthusiastic multilingual scientists full of research trip tales from deep sea coral cities and Arctic kelp beds, receding ice caps, remote operating vehicles, deep sea scavengers off Angola and a passion to record as much as they can, before changes happen so soon we don't even know what we are, what the world is, losing. Tonight had a real impact on Sam, not the fancy ROV equipment, but the research scientists obvious love of their work, enough for him to be heading to school tomorrow to ask for a subject change. Perhaps too late for this year but we'll wait and see. Oh, and we also got to take home personalised polystyrene cups put under pressurised conditions of 2000mtrs of water.
