Maria

Visited Uppsala Cathedral - the tallest church in the Nordic countries. Since 2005, this sculpture has been standing behind the altar. Swedish artist Anders Widoff created a realistic, human interpretation of Maria out of silicone, real hair and simple clothes. The artwork was commissioned in 2003 by Uppsala's domkyrkoförsamling based on the wish to visibly reintroduce Maria into the cathedral's space.
