Bus Challenge No 104!!
The Tour of Britain finish line, Bath
A long and busy day in Bath today, notching up a couple of new experiences to qualify my trip as a Bus Challenge!
After a morning appointment in town with my specialist, I went along to the Guildhall for a guided tour of Bath Record Office, as part of this weekend’s Heritage Open Days. We got to explore the strong rooms, and had the rare opportunity to take a look at the earliest document, dating back to Richard the Lionheart.
A quick rest and picnic lunch in the Parade Gardens, then it was off to Victoria Park, to wait at the finish line on Royal Avenue for the arrival of the cyclists, finishing stage 5 of The Tour of Britain. It was a long two hour wait, but the sun shone and there was plenty of entertainment put on to build up the party atmosphere! Here you can see the New Zealand rider, Jack Bauer, raising his arms in victory as he crossed the line and became the winner of stage 5.
A very long and tiring day for me, but worth the effort. I now intend to put my feet up for the evening, and see if I can spot myself on the race highlights show!! Catch up with you all tomorrow…
Total bus journey time = 55 mins
