That's just silly!

Gollum thought it was rather silly to put a coat on him on such a warm day. But it was ordered online and came yesterday, so we needed to make sure it had a good fit. I ordered two coats for him and he tried one already yesterday. Today he tried them both on and they were both great for him. 

I know lots of people think it is silly to buy coats for Border Collies as they are bred to work outside in all kinds of weather. And they are, but they do get cold, if they are outside for a long time on a cold day - especially if they are wet. And a cold dog is more prone to get injured - especially muscle injuries. So keeping them warm also helps keeping them fit. 

Also the Back On Track coats that I buy for my boys does more than just keep them warm. They are made from Weltex fabric, which utilizes the body's own energy (warmth) and reflects the energy back as a far-infrared wavelength.  That far-infrared wavelength penetrates deeper into the tissues.  It is proven to increase blood circulations which, in turn, will increase the oxygen transport and waste product removal to and from the tissues, muscles, joints, tendon/ligaments, etc.  It is a known fact that an increased blood circulation will aid in the overall well being and health of the tissues and also in healing from some trauma and injury.

I first heard of these, when my old Border Collie Whisper suddenly was paralysed due to an embolus in the spinal cord. Once we knew he was going to survive and before I was allowed to bring him home, the vet told me to get a Back on Track coat for him to wear during his rehabilitation. I did and he wore it for hours every day during his recovery. 

Each of my boys today have 2 Back on Track coats. A thick winter one, which keeps them warm on the cold winter days and then a lighter one, which they use before and after work to help the muscles warm up and cool down in the best possible way.

This is Gollum's lighter one. He looks good, does't he? LIke a proper little working dog :-D

Anyway - super busy, but good day at work and then off for a walk in the woods with the boys.

And now we are so ready for weekend... which is not really weekend as I am working tomorrow. We have a garden party for all the residents' relatives :-)
