Ringing Chamber
Today the bell tower was open for a couple of hours as part of Heritage Open Days.
This is our ringing chamber with display boards as we waited for people to arrive. The ropes are old ones which we have borrowed to show what the room will look like and they are not connected to the bells.
The tower clock has also been completely overhauled and will be back working again when the project is finished. The clock mechanism is in the room above in between the ringing chamber and the belfry. The woodedn structure which you can see in the photo housed the now redundant pendulum for the clock. In this position it will make ringing very difficult, as if it isn't difficult enough for us learners, as you have to be able to have sight of all the other ropes so that you can be sure of being in the right place. Much discusion continues to take place as to whether or not it can be moved. However these thing take time.
I have now back blipped photos from our holiday in Cornwall. It's just like watching an episode of Poldark!
