Open and shut case

One of my guests yesterday gave me a pack of allium bulbs.  For my blip I had planned to visit a couple of buildings taking part in Winchester’s Open House weekend, but it was so wet all day that in the end the idea lost appeal. 
 
So instead you have two of the bulbs.  Just think of all that allium DNA shut tight till springtime.  They may look big enough for Spanish onions but their diameter is only 2cms.
