Cliff Walk
Today there was a marathon from down in the valley at Interlaken up to Kleine Scheidegg passing through Wengen. Although it started off cool it soon warmed up. I can't imagine how the runners made it up the mountain in the heat.
We had been advised to avoid the trains today as they would be crowded with spectators coming to watch the race. We decided to catch a cable car, then a very long gondola ride plus a short train journey and then an even longer gondola ride up a mountain overlooking Grindelwald. We were not disappointed. Again amazing views and lots going on - more paragliding, people going on zip wires down the mountain and the cliff walk in my photo. It jutted right out over the mountain. No good for anyone who doesn't like heights.
Home tomorrow. Four trains and a plane ride back to Newcastle but that's fine. I feel lucky to have visited such a stunning place.
