The Village Show

The Village of Calverhall is just up the road from us.  I went there this afternoon in the hope of visiting the Village's lovely Annual Family Day, (my Blip two years ago here and in 2013 here  ) only to find it took place .......  last Sunday ....  very annoying, should have checked.  Never mind there was the annual Fruit and Veg show going on in the Village Hall which I visited, had tea and cake, saw some old mates from the Whitchurch Camera Club (which I used to belong to) and admired all the various entries encompassing Fruit and veg, obviously! flower arranging, photography, a very nice childrens' competition section,cakes, jams, chutneys and preserves and more.  I stayed for the raffle which went on for an eternity, particularly when a grandson of around 11 was trying to choose a prize for his Grandad who was in his late 70's!! When a pack of notelets were eventually brought back to Grandad, Grandad wasn't that impressed and asked why the boy hadn't chosen that .... 'nice bottle of Port' - made me giggle!!

The proof of the pudding R.Bean Chutney*  will be in the tasting but not until early December??
