Land of Hope and Glory
SUNDAY
As it was Heritage weekend, we took the opportunity to visit a couple of new places:
First stop was the Bullecourt Museum at Milnsbridge, Huddersfield which featured a wide range of military artefacts dating from Waterloo to the Falklands War. Built in 1908, it served as a drill hall and territorial army barracks until the 1960s and opened as a museum in 2002.
Second stop was Beaumont Park. where everyone was sat out in the sun enjoying a Last Night of The Proms - themed performance by Lindley Band in the park's bandstand (see extra).
The band played Elgar's Nimrod in reflection of the events of 9/11 exactly fifteen years ago, but finished on a more uplifting note with lots of flag-waving and swaying to Jerusalem and Land of Hope and Glory.
