How Did it Get There?

I am currently on holiday in South California, not far from San Diego. On Saturday we stopped for some lunch, in an Italian Restaurant called Mario's, in a small town called Newport.
This clock was hanging above the counter.
It clearly states that it was property of the More's Hotel, in India St. Glasgow.
This building was demolished in the late 60s (I think) for the current Nye Bevan house to be built.
I've looked it up and apparently Jimi Hendrix stayed there in 1967 when he played in Glasgow's Green's Playhouse.
Could he have taken it over to the U.S. ?
The current owner has no idea of its origin.
Any information would be welcome.
