"What the heck is this?!?"

Dear Diary,

The first day for the bird feeder.  It is 38F this morning!  This little chickadee is very perplexed as he looks up at the full feeder.  "Where are all the sunflower seeds?  What is all this other stuff in there?"  He immediately began to fling out the "other stuff" in search of the tasty sunflower seeds.  It went sprinkling down on the feeding table.

But one bird's trash is another chipmunk's treasure!  Little Hoover was down below hoovering up the rejects!  Poor little guy.  It seems he's had a rough summer.  Bare patches on his back indicate some confrontations, probably with Philly who can be a bit of a bully.  I will start using sunflower seeds exclusively very soon.  Before you know it Gaylord will be back!

Summer isn't over yet and our temperatures will recover but the hot humid days I think are over.  I am pleased with that.  The cool autumn days are my favorite time of the year.
