Mono Monday - MM138 - TRADITIONAL
Thanks so much for all the lovely comments, stars and hearts for my Red Squirrel yesterday, it's on page 1 of popular!! ☺
I had to pop into town this morning for an appointment, so I took the camera in case I came across any traditional shops or buildings I could use for today's Mono Monday. I parked for a couple of hours and afterwards I got myself a coffee and cake and thinking I'd sit in the royal square which used to be the old market place. On the way I noticed a load of advocates (lawyers) walking away from the royal court in their robes and as I got closer I could see that something very traditional was going on. Fortunately there was someone who told me it was the Assize d'Heritage, a relic of the days when Jersey was entirely under the feudal system. In this shot you have the Jurats (local judges) lining up behind the Royal Mace, before they paraded off to the Town Church. I've added a colour version in extras so you can see the colourful robes and the golden mace. More on Flickr too if you fancy a mooch.
Talk about perfect timing for Monday Monday. Thanks Inge for hosting this month.
