G&V's Wedding Thessaloniki

We met Santana's sister, husband, daughter and grand-daughter for lunch having walked over to the part of the city they were staying in.  Lovely moussaka.  Nice - although I think they were a bit nervous about their son's wedding later today.

The wedding started at 2000 and it was still very warm.  From the church we went by coach to the venue for the reception.  The coach driver managed to get lost and we were late arriving but no matter.  A wedding of around 220 guests - with 60 from the UK and it was good to meet some of my brother in law's family.  We enjoyed a  magnificent buffet of Greek food and then later on the bride and groom joined us having eaten a deux, which is the custom.

Fantastic fireworks, cake cutting and then Greek dancing.  We left at dawn.  Can't remember the last time I had stayed up that late (or consumed so much alcohol).


A really lovely wedding and the bride and groom were blissfully happy.
