A favourite with bees
"Dandelions appear in 85 per cent of honey samples and can be a critical resource for honeybees and other pollinators if the weather is poor" according to research conducted at the National Botanic Gardens of Wales, described in an article in a recent Telegraph.
Isn't that amazing. It also makes me feel completely justified in leaving my dandelions to flower cheerfully and only deadheading them once the clock seedheads appear. The flowers are at their height in May, but it's worth leaving them around when other flowers die off to help our bee population.
