Mono Monday - Tradition

On the road at 7 a.m. - off to Doncaster to collect granddaughter, who was still asleep when I eventually got there (30 minute journey took 55 minutes today - so slow on the A1).

Arrived back here about 11 - coffee and snack then off to Roundhay Park again.

I must have walked / driven past this door many times over the years and have never noticed the writing across the top. The very 'traditional' and formal use of capital letters. None of your brightly coloured plastic signs screwed to the outside wall! I have given it a traditional sepia tone as (apart from the steel handrail) this could be a timeless shot.

What little info I can find is that the building is called Coronation House, dating from 1911 the year of the coronation of George V. It currently houses part of the Tropical World complex. I can find no mention of the 'parks and open spaces office'. City of Leeds morphed into Leeds City Council later.

We had lunch out in the Roundhay Fox pub - very nice. The home for play, a little nap and then tea (Jessica, not me).

Granddaughter has gone to bed - but appears to be not very sleepy and is currently bouncing around in her cot. May be a long evening.....

Many thanks to Ingeborg for hosting.
