How much is a cardboard box worth?

Went into Glasgow with Dad this morning; his television had packed up so a new one needed to be purchased.
Decided on one he saw in John Lewis and he asked if that was the best price on it. Sales guy said he'd sold the last one of that model earlier in the day and earliest they could deliver one was Thursday.
Then said they had one of that model in the stock room which was to be put out sometime to be sold marked 'accessories missing', told us the price and asked if we wanted to see it.
We saw it, it was identical, it worked. Sales guy thought it might have a missing remote (which they would replace anyway!) but no, everything was there. The only thing missing was a box. And it had £150 off.
I walked out of the shop 10 minutes later with it under my arm!
One happy Dad.
[My Mum & my Papa always loved a bargain, and loved to haggle - they'd have been so proud!)
