They say that scent is one of the strongest memory triggers.
I can attest to that because every time I smell the strong sweet of lavender, I am brought back to the days of my childhood.
Of the lavender bush outside of one of my childhood homes, bee's buzzing all around.
The trail of ants crawling upon the brick outdoor wall, my small self watching with wonder and awe.
Riding my bicycle with no hands, with my neighbor by side, innocent minded and responsibility free.
Sticky icy pole hands, and artificial color stained tongues.
Trampolines and dress ups, and long summer days with fresh mangoes and ice cream for dessert.
Dancing on my bunk bed with my little sister, my old stereo blasting The Pussycat Dolls and Pink.
I wish that I could re-live these moments, that I could re-experience these simple things with the same excitement and enthusiasm that I once did.
But for now, I will just smell the lavender.
