Scots Thistle

Tonight I had a look at some genuine Scots Guards Uniforms housed in a private collection. These uniforms are in such good condition and I also looked at a complete Scots Gaurds Piper Uniform ( Pipe Sergeant) this included the Dirk. There were asorted Bear Skins form NCO's to Officer's hats the higher up the Ranks the better the quality of Bear Skin an Officers would have come from the Belly of the Bear so soft and smoothe much like a cats fur. Tonights Blip is of a Scots Gaurds Officers Collar Thistle which is on the Collar of those Bright Red Jackets they wear,these jackets are woolen and heavey,this one is from about 1890-1901 and would have been worn during the Reign of Queen Victioria and earlier. The Collar Thistle would have been hand crafted by a very skilled Craftsman.
