Holiday Time Again - Day 1
Perth to Dornoch via Inverness
Down to Nero for breakfast, early, then home to pack up the car and away just after 12, after a short visit from Laura and Dave just as we were leaving. Not too bad a journey up the A9, just 1 hold up due to work on the dualling at Killicrankie.
Arrived at the van hire and met Jo who showed us round the van which looked fabulous. Couldn't wait to get going! Emptied the car, everything now into the many cupboards of the van. Good to see how ingeniously everything you need is so well placed including the toilet and shower unit with storage and wash-hand basin, fridge/freezer, microwave, job with three rings, grill and oven, sink and pull out worktop, the comfiest of seats with armrests at the front and a king size bed put together with the seats at the back. Fab!
Breagha happily lay in her bed in between us as we drove along. Arrived in Dornoch to the campsite we stayed in three years ago next to the beach. Weather was lovely and couldn't wait to get walking on the beach. Breagha tore along the sand and there was lots of digging. Made our tea, and had a chat with our neighbour who was a very tall and handsome German guy from Berlin. He had flown in to Glasgow and picked up his little motor home and this was his first stop. I asked him where he was headed and he said Durness. For surfing I said and he said no, to read, he had a whole library of books and loves to come to the north of Scotland for the solitude to chill and couldn't think of anything worse holidaying in a city!!
We had a walk into Dornoch town, in the dark, and then off to the very comfortable bed looking forward to beginning our adventure - #TooniesinaVanMk2.
