Portrait of F.S.

F. is a dear friend of ours who is so at peace with herself and the world she seems, at times, to have the attributes of a saint. I caught up with her today standing outside one of the local supermarkets raising money to build a school for kids in the South Sudan. This is her major task at the moment as it has been for the past 12 months or so. She has already raised many thousands of dollars to aid this cause.
I haven't done a lot of portrait photographs, being more at ease working within the landscape genre. I had all kinds of problems processing this image - there was so much conflicting motifs within the picture. I still don't know if I have been successful enough (for myself anyway) and probably need to look at it with a fresh eye.
I have cropped it significantly to rid the image of some of the issues. Still - it is what it is I guess.
