'Homeward Bound'

It's a wonderful journey both in to Venice and leaving. We caught the Alilaguna (water bus)...for anyone thinking of going for the first time. Water taxis are available but expensive and fast, so you don't see so much. We left San Marco at 11.15 am...then the boat trip took us along to Lido, on to Murano etc then the Airport...1 hour 20 minutes.
We had a three hour wait to see if we could get on the flight (standby staff travel).....we did! Phew! It would have been a wait until the evening for next flight and still not definite.

Beautiful clouds kept me occupied during the flight...and of course, Champagne and afternoon tea. (So lucky to have Business class).

Gatwick so busy we had to circle for twenty minutes until a space for landing.

The train was packed coming home..stood most of the way..but fine. We even dragged our cases home..a fifteen minute walk...Pete dragging mine along with one broken wheel (damaged on outward flight)...very noisy.

Nice to be home and to have a NICE CUP OF TEA.

Dear Blippers, you have all been so kind with your comments etc when I haven't had the time to reciprocate. Will try to catch up with you all ...

ps...it's good to be home!
