Painted Faces of Victoria Street

The reason the British are fixated about their weather must be its vagaries.

The last few weeks have been unusually hot and sunny, (at least here), with the beginning of this week giving us the warmest September days since1911.
However all good things come to an end and today the fresh cool east wind has brought in a cheerless misty day with a smirr of rain in the air - umbrellas and anorak hoods the order of the day.
I feel sure the very many new English students from the Home Counties arriving for their first term at the University a fortnight ago and who imagined that short sleeved T-shirts and flip flops would work just as well in Edinburgh's climate as back home, will have had a bit of a rethink this morning. Little do they know. It can only get worse- much, much worse.

His Lordship, despite complaining of being tired after the unusual amount of socialising in the last three days, managed to summon enough energy to depart once more for the most inaccessible hills for a day's walking available by bus, and has gone to recharge his batteries in the hills around Lamington.
Meanwhile I had the luxury of a meander into town and back without causing any friction with blip stops.
This blip illustrates the dichotomy of Victoria Street, somber grey stone beside bright painted shop fronts.

PS It appears that fate smiled on the righteous as HL has walked for 4 hours in warm sunshine, expecting to sit outside on the patio with a cooling beer when he returned.Tant pis!
