Sunburst
Despite feeling very tired last night and looking to catch up on a bit of sleep, I awoke inexplicably early to thick mist outside. The last couple of days I've been roused by the sun streaming in through the window, but today I think it was my blip radar that sent a message, triggered by the lack of bright light! I knew that the forecast for today was clear skies and more warm sunshine - which could only mean that a temperature inversion was going on.
This is just about the only thing that will get me out the door without first enjoying the lubrication of a mug of tea, preferably two mugs, and ideally three! Yes ... I am addicted! It was a case of running shoes on and straight up to the moor. I guessed that the mist would burn off pretty quickly today. That proved to be right, but it didn't happen before I was able to take a set of rather special photographs.
At this point I feel a bit like one of those many athletes when asked to describe how it felt to win a gold medal! I think we've all become just a little inured to superlatives over this last week or so. I got above the mist and into clear skies quite quickly and then plotted a route which would keep me close to the boundary layer. That's where the action is, so to speak, as the light breaks through and creates these awesome sunbursts. I think Spartan would call this magical! I shall leave it at that.
