You have to laugh...
Or in fact jump out of your skin when this huge lady cricket (2+ inches easily) hopped onto the balcony next to me whilst I chatted to a friend.
So now the alpine season is over and the clients are all safely home I thought I'd share with you one of this year's funnier moments. Names have been changed out of politeness.....
We're walking along the ridge of the Aguillettes des Possettes, near Argientierre - at the bottom of Le Tour is the helicopter base. As we climb helicopters can be heard coming and going - "are they recues?" the group ask, a fair enough question. "No" I reply " they're mostly taking food up to the high refuges up on top of the mountains if you look closely you can see the food or drink or supplies on a long line under the helicopter. They fly up, don't usually land, release the supplies and drop down to base in the thin air". The group all nodded and we carried on our way.
A couple of hours later another chopper goes over and I see Sally look up, grimace and shake her head, I can't hear what she mutters, but she doesn't look happy.
"Are you OK Sally?" I ask.
"I suppose so" says Sally "I just can't help thinking about those poor people up there, frankly I think it's barbaric" she stammers.
Perplexed I ask " what people?, what's barbaric?"
"The refugees" replies Sally, "making them live up there and dropping them food parcels"....
I found an interesting flower to look at till I could get my face straight.
We told Sally eventually.....
