Suilven

We had a late (and slightly drunken) night so didn’t start the day too early. That combined with the 70mph winds and heavy rain forecast meant that we changed munro plans for a trip to Suilven. It is an absolutely incredible hill, shaped like a bread loaf and very prominent besides the flat ground surrounding it.

The drive took much longer than expected (3 hours), although that was partially because Rory decided to take the scenic costal route. We walked out towards it for a couple of hours and got fantastic views, planning a loch bag with it in the background on the way back to make up for not having the time to climb it. However, just as we turned around to go back, a huge raincloud came in and covered the hill (and us). We still did the loch bag with half of Suilven showing though!

The walk back was horrible and we were both soaked by the time we got to the car. Venison burgers at the pub cheered us up though - and we began to plan our adventure with Hugo up An Teallach the next day.
