Bodiam

Had a lovely day at Bodiam Castle, East Sussex, with the grandchildren, weatherwise and enjoyment wise. We were amused by the fact the 1940 gun emplacement built in 1940 to defend the River Rother crossing proved as much or more a hit with the children as the 1385 castle. However both were redundant as far as defence was concerned, the castle being the late medieval version of later Victorian turretted and battlemented mansions. It is a complete picture book scene, however, and frequently used in films.
