Secret Garden
Thanks so much for all the lovely comments, stars and hearts for my recent blue-eye goose, it's sitting on page 2 of popular!! ☺
We were going to visit Elizabeth Castle today as Rik had won some free tickets at work recently. Unfortunately it was blowing a force 6/7 this morning so we've postponed it until Sunday when it'll be calmer and warmer, also free parking on a Sunday!
This afternoon we visited an Open Garden in St. Brelade, Grey Gables.
It was originally was built in 1911 to win the affection of a girl.
It was also lived in by a high ranking Nazi during the Occupation and was then bought by Bryan and Celia Skinner who transformed the gardens into what they are now. There are some very rare plants within the grounds and a beautiful 7 hectares of land to explore.
It was a huge garden on different levels with an extensive woodland valley. It's actually somewhere I've driven past many, many times and have wanted to visit, so what an opportunity. As it was a Friday afternoon rather than a usual Sunday, there were less people roaming about which was good. Although at one point a rather rude aggressive woman wanted to know if I'd been taking photos of her and male partner. Fortunately I was able to let her know I was only interested in the fauna and flora!
I quite like this shot of the grapevine tunnel leading into an enclosed garden, maybe a secret garden?
