False Widow Spider?

This afternoon I was sitting reading under this canopy in the garden when what I thought was a maggot dropped on me and stung me several times.
It was such a shock - later I realised it was some kind of spider.
I think it was a false widow spider - the bite was agony and swelled up. I rang 111 and was given good advice. I took anti histamine which helped but I was very shaken.
They are very common in the south of England. Normally I will pick up spiders happily and they have never worried me but now...........
