Oradour

A ghost village. In 1944 the Nazis rounded up all the inhabitants, shot the men and herded all the women and children into the church and set fire to it. 642 inhabitants massacred. It is now a monument left as an empty village. Very impressively done.

I have wanted to go here for years and at last can now tick it off the list.

Preceded by a relish omelettes au cêpes in a restaurant in the "new" town built next door after the war.
