Going to Take Over the World, BRB . . .
As I sat in the yard watching for hummingbirds, I spied a squirrel with a nut in its mouth. It quickly became apparent that the squirrel was a "he." (Sorry, squirrels don't wear underpants!) :-) He stood on his back paws, looking here and there, stopping to check out a spot, then abandoning it, not satisfied with any of them.
He hopped around quite expeditiously, checking out and rejecting at least a dozen sites, nut in mouth the entire time. Then he secretly buried his nut at the edge of the meadow, with much paw-waving (a form of squirrel voodoo to make it stay?) even after it was well covered under the ground.
I very much admired the squirrel's two-footed stance; he seemed quite comfortable ambulating like this. He looked as though he might be striding off to take over the world, and so I immediately named him Strider (which Tolkien fans may note is the name with which the character Aragorn is first introduced in LOTR; hey, we can live with that). :-)
The song: Tears for Fears, Everybody Wants to Rule the World.
