Gutted!
I stayed near Eton Dorney last night to be near to the event today. Didn't want the stress of what the M25 can be like, plus I would have had to be up at silly o'clock.
Everything was going to plan. I've been swimming really well and couldn't wait, although nervous, for this race. I knew we were in with a good chance of winning.
To say I was gutted is an understatement as the swim part got cancelled. Apparently algae appeared over night and the swims couldn't take place.
They informed some of us, not me, at around 7.30 this morning that it was changing to run, bike, run. That's fine if you have the right gear with you.
Like most swimmers I turned up in flip flops, leggings and cosy under clothing, and t.shirt so couldn't do the run either.
Not just me, all the swimmers from my club had done the same thing and we couldn't take part.
I was fuming at first because I really thought we should have been notified sooner, or in my case notified. Then I became upset that I wasn't part of it. I so wanted to be involved.
The girls in my team who were there to bike and run did win. They were fantastic.
On the whole it was a good event with little children getting involved too on their scooters. That was fun to watch.
But for me it was bitter disappointment.....I think I'm a tad too competitive ;)
These are members of my tri club. Some competed some didn't. I'm in there somewhere.
