Coffee Bay

The wild coast, still relatively unspoiled and stunningly beautiful. We arrived after nightfall, to the light of the full moon. The house was already packed with people who'd come to celebrate the life of an extraordinary woman. A palpable mixture of sadness and excitement. The sun rises early on this side, and the sky was pink when I headed down to the beach. I'd forgotten these black "dinosaur"rocks and stones; the warm, salty water of the Indian ocean.
I escaped back to the beach for a while later in the day. Suddenly overwhelmed by sadness I felt soothed by the sound of the black rocks rumbled by the tide. This place is so healing.
The rain came as the choir started. The massive tent packed with people come to pay their respects. Ancient Xhosa women wrapped in blankets and others from the community arrived throughout the ceremony. Tuppy touched the lives of many.
A mass of Knysna loerie, the sound of trumpeter hornbills. Samp and beans with butter.
