Mono Monday…………….

……………………Seasonal

As we head towards summer in the Southern Hemisphere it also heralds the reappearance of butterflies.

Some of these seasonal butterflies are welcome, but some, like this white butterfly are not quite so welcome as the caterpillars are pests of cabbages, cauliflowers and other brassicas in the vegetable garden.

This one was attracted to the curly kale growing close by, but as it was resting on the belladonna lily leaf the sunlight shone and caught its wings beautifully. I also loved the way it was peering over the edge of the leaf at me.

Thank you Ingeborg for hosting this challenge for September.

And to you all, thank you for the stars and hearts for yesterday’s blip featuring low clouds. Aotearoa is the Maori name for the country of New Zealand. The literal translation of Aotearoa is "land of the long white cloud”.
